The East Harris Chain of lakes include Lake Dora, Lake Beauclair, and Lake Carlton. Together, these lakes comprise of 4,475 acres. The Dora Canal connects these lakes to Lake Eustis and the Apopka Beauclair Canal connects them to Lake Apopka. The lakeside village of Mount Dora is located directly on the shores of Lake Dora. The city holds the Mount Dora Art Festival annually, attracting approximately 250,000 visitors. Another quaint village that is located on Lake Dora is the City of Tavares which hosts the Antique Boat Show every year.
Lake Carlton and Beauclair are south of Lake Dora and can be reached through the small inlet on the southern shore of Lake Beauclair. Three public boat ramps are located on these lakes, two on Lake Dora and one in the Town of Lake Jem on the Apopka Beauclair canal.
